The great thing about discussing art and sharing a cocktail together is that it helps build lasting friendships and an understanding of each other - or at least - it should. i offer some thoughts as a way for you to get to know who i am - maybe my friendship theory will work.
a lot of people smile when i use the word "cocktail", so, i thought i'd share with you the origin of the term, at least according to one source that i found online...

The word “cocktail” has its roots in the murky past. A“cock” in 19th century America was a tap; the last, muddy dregs of the tap was its “tail.” Colonel Carter, of Culpeper Court House, Virginia, was served this insult at his local tavern, dashed it upon the floor and exclaimed “Hearafter I will drink cocktails of my own brewing!” His concoction, a mix of gin, lemon peel, bitters and sugar, was the great-granddaddy of the modern cocktail.

if you'd like to join me for a virtual cocktail - i prefer Belgian ales - followed by fine wines. For very special occassions i might serve a Red Needles. Of course, fine Kentucky bourbons work for most occassions too. ever wonder - how bourbon got its name? here's the real story...

When American pioneers pushed west of the Allegheny Mountains following the Revolution, the first counties they founded covered vast regions. One of these original, huge counties was Bourbon, established in 1785 and named after the French royal family. While this vast county was being carved into many smaller ones, early in the 19th century, many people continued to call the region "Old Bourbon" . Located within "Old Bourbon" was the principal Ohio River port from which whiskey and other products were shipped to market. "Old Bourbon" was stenciled on the barrels to indicate their port of origin. "Old Bourbon" whiskey was different because it was the first corn whiskey most people had ever tasted, and they liked it. In time, "bourbon" became the name for any corn-based whiskey. © 1996, C. K. Cowdery

well, enough about me. tell me a little about yourself or take a look at some of my OKHT photos from 2001, check out my bike ride in a cemetery - coming back again in 2003, or take an armchair vacation of Belgium on a Bicycle.
